Aberdeen University Concert Band and Wind Band play a wide variety of music leading to our end of term concerts. Recently we have performed in both the Music Hall and the Beach Ballroom to large audiences. We perform a range of repertoire from classical music, to film scores and much more!
The Aberdeen University Concert Band is extremely pleased to announce the appointment of their conductor for the 2018/19 session: Eric Kidd. He is a distinguished conductor and had previously conducted the Aberdeen University Concert Band for over ten years. He will make his re-debut with the band when we re-commence in September.
In other news, we now have an Instagram page, go check us out at @theaucb!
The past year has been a great one for the band. The first concert in Butchart Recreation Centre was a fab end to the first semester, with a good audience and great feedback for the band. The second concert in the Beach Ballroom was undoubtedly the highlight, with an audience of over 250. The British-inspired programme, conducted by Ashley Edwards, was a massive success. Some said it was the best the two bands had sounded! It was a very enjoyable concert to end my time with the band – after four years with AUCB, it was great to see how much the band has developed and grown over the years. I wish the new committee and band all the best for the future!

'It is a great privilege and honour to have been elected president of AUCB. These past two years of participating in the band have been great fun, with some great music and great people. There is such a buzz about playing in a community band which encompasses those from beginner through to diploma level - part of the reason I enjoy it so much. I am really looking forward to this coming year as we have a lot of great stuff on the horizon.'
'I have been with the Concert Band for two and a half years now, and have enjoyed every minute, and have been eager to play a role in the society. I was secretary for a semester, before being ordinary member for a year, and I have just moved into my role as Vice President. I look forward to supporting Liam in his role as president, and hope to continue where the previous committee left off, hoping to help take the band to new heights! I built this website and keep it up to date, and I cannot wait to help in all the plans we have for the society this year!'
